Councilmember Ramsey’s Gun Buyback 2016
NEW ORLEANS – The NOPD, in partnership with New Orleans City Councilmember Nadine Ramsey and the Metropolitan Crime Commission, will host a gun buyback event on Saturday, August 27, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at St. Stephen Missionary Baptist Church, 1738 L.B. Landry Drive.
During this event, members of the community are invited to bring working unloaded firearms to the location and anonymously exchange the guns for gift cards.
Gift cards for $100 will be given for each handgun, shotgun and rifle, while $200 gift cards will be given for each assault weapon. A limit of five guns per person will be strictly enforced. NOPD officers will be on hand to provide for a secure event.
The event is aimed at removing firearms from the streets in an effort to reduce gun violence in the community.
